12 Responsibilities of Poll Chaplain/Peacekeepers

2026 Early Voting Dates in Key States

Volunteer Perimeters at Polling Sites

GUIDELINES REGARDING FUSD LIABILITY FOR POLL CHAPLAIN AND PEACEKEEPER SAFETY AT POLLING SITES:

  • Faiths United to Save Democracy (FUSD) Poll Chaplain/Peacekeeper training equips ordained clergy and lay leaders as volunteers to use the moral presence of a calm, prayerful, caring voice to de-escalate potential conflict and make vulnerable voters feel safe and supported at polling sites. They are taught to humanize both the person facing a threat in their effort to vote and the person posing the threat.

  • FUSD instructs volunteers never to put themselves in harm's way and always to follow the lawful instructions of election officials and law enforcement. Volunteers are instructed to use the 1-866-OURVOTE (1-866-687-8683) to report challenging issues they encounter at polling sites. Poll Chaplains/Peacekeepers are welcome to serve in an FUSD "Buddy System" to increase their comfort level at polling sites. FUSD accepts no liability for volunteers who operate outside of the training guidelines.
